The Emerging Leaders Mentorship Program for Black Male Youth (ELMP) is a year-round program that includes three phases of leadership development: 1) Rites of Passage Program; 2) Success In School Program; and 3) Employment Connections Program.
PHASE ONE: RITES OF PASSAGE PROGRAM
The “Rites of Passage Program” is the first phase of leadership development provided by the Emerging Leaders Mentorship Program for Black Male Youth (ELMP). The “Rites of Passage Program” is used to induct new members to enjoy our year-round services. An extensive application process is used to select participants in the four-week “Rites of Passage Program” that is held on the campus of UNC Charlotte each July.
PHASE TWO: SUCCESS IN SCHOOL PROGRAM
The “Success In School Program” is the second phase of leadership development provided by the ELMP. After the new members graduate from the Rites of Passage Program, they are automatically enrolled in the “Success In School Program” which focuses on providing the services needed to guarantee that the Emerging Leaders (members) are successful in school in regards to academics, athletics, extracurriciular activities, and community service projects.
PHASE THREE: EMPLOYMENT CONNECTIONS PROGRAM
The “Employment Connections Program” is the third phase of leadership development provided by the ELMP. After the Emerging Leaders demonstrate accountability and maturity, they are given the opportunity to take advantage of employment opportunities we secure on their behalf. >>Details
